Abstract
One of the most unused quality control tests in radiology is SMPTE. Even thought, it is a simple test, but it is rarely done in radiology departments around the world. The American College of Radiology request a SMPTE test as a part of the evaluation and accreditation of radiology departments. This paper will explain the historical background of this test and undocumented literature in radiology about SMPTE. As well, how this test is done in order to increase awareness about the usefulness of such quality control tests in a simple way.
