Abstract

Given that the PV array has a nonlinear feature, it needs a robust Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm to operate at the Maximum power point (MPP). This paper deals the MPPT algorithm using Smooth sliding mode (SSM). This algorithm is provided with an integral component to reduce the chattering phenomenon. It presents as a robust controller for nonlinear systems in particular, for PV array, since ensures higher accuracy compared with some MPPT controllers such as P&O controller and Incremental Conductance (IC). A Lyapunov function is used to ensure the stability of the proposed controller. Simulation results with different data scenarios are presented using software Matlab/Simulink, to investigate the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed technique.
