Abstract

This paper proposes the application of a novel algorithm for load frequency control of a two-area interconnected power system. The conventional integral sliding mode controller has the demerit of chattering problem, which is due to the discontinuous control part present in it. This is undesirable for the system since this will leads to wear and tear in the mechanical actuators or components. In this paper the discontinuous part of conventional controller is replaced with a modified twisting control. Hence the proposed method is having superior performance when compared with conventional SMC and ISMC. The potential of the proposed method has been validated using extensive simulation studies.
