Abstract

In Korea, the vestibule of a special escape stair and a fire service access elevator is typically used together. The floor plan configuration of high-rise multi-family residential buildings where occupant evacuation elevators are installed is of two types depending on the vestibule structure of the occupant evacuation elevators and fire service access elevators. In one type, the vestibules of an occupant evacuation elevator and a fire service access elevator face each other, and in the other type, each vestibule faces the corridor. As a result of analyzing the smoke control volume flow rate and pressure difference, air volume flow rate to form a pressure difference was used in the lower level of the neutral pressure plane in both the floor plan configurations. The pressure difference above the neutral pressure plane was confirmed to be formed sufficiently high to cause evacuation disturbances in the floor plan configuration without corridor.
