Abstract
This book is a collection of papers arising from the 6th International Conference on Fluvial Sedimentology, held in Cape Town in 1997. It is the latest in a series of volumes from these four-yearly conferences and continues the wide-ranging approach evident in previous volumes. The book is organized into five sections, which cover progressively larger timescales and lengthscales of observation. The first section (‘Sediment transport and bedforms’) contains four case studies documenting processes of sediment transport and resulting bedform evolution in a range of modern rivers and estuaries.
