Abstract

The smearing effect on πD, πN and ND, NN processes is studied by using the (relativistic) nucleon-parton approach. The calculation is done explicitly without some of the approximations made in the earlier contribution to this problem. Furthermore, the recent new data of the deuteron electromagnetic form factors has been taken into account in the n-p-d relativistic vertex function. It is found that in the high-energy region (50–370 GeV) the range of the effect, which is in fact due to the k⊥ effects, is 0.02–0.9%. This result is considerably smaller than the range 0–3% obtained by using the (non-relativistic) conventional approach.
