Abstract
With the advent of the touchscreen smartphone era following the release of the Apple iPhone in 2007, technical innovations have resulted in an explosion of direct-to-consumer electronic devices with tremendous processing speed and memory, along with the ability to package multiple forms of sensor hardware in a pocket-sized package. The latest wave of innovation has focused on the boundary between body and technology, finding new ways to capture physiology in a form that is unobtrusive and non-invasive.
