Abstract

Smart Table Tennis Racket In article number 2100535, Mengying Zhang, Jinbo Wu, and coworkers invent a smart table tennis racket with tunable stiffness based on electrorheological elastomers. The racket face is a multilayer structure of rubber, soft electrode, anisotropic electrorheological elastomer and copper electrode. By applying an electric field, the smart racket successfully changed the trajectory of balls, reduced ejection angle and increased ejection velocity to adapt to diverse play styles and improve unconventional play technique.
