Abstract

In country like India the electricity board to read the meter readings from remote energy meters uses human agents. To overcome the disadvantage of using human agents, our initial works proposed mobile agents for accessing the remote energy meters from the electricity board .But with a single mobile agent, problems like load, lack of memory space and improper communication with clients cannot be solved. Now we developed a multi-agent system (MAS) which interconnects separately developed mobile agents, thus enabling the function beyond the capabilities of any singular mobile agent in the system. Every agent is allotted to a specific remote zone to perform a particular task. By using MAS, load balancing, delay in propagation time was reduced. When the work is extended for large area, the number of multiple agents required to do the process increases, which in turn will lead to more traffic and congestion while the agents report to the server. To overcome this congestion and traffic we have come up with an innovative idea of intelligent congestion avoidance and controlling software using multiple mobile agents technology for remote energy metering. The work will mainly involves the design of signaling agent; congestion controlling mobile agent and data capturing mobile agents . The web logic server (J2EE) will be used for developing server software, clients software, signaling agent, congestion controlling mobile agent and data capturing mobile agent programs as it is platform independent, and provides large number of application packages to develop distributed networking applications effectively and efficiently.
