Abstract

Smart grids are not only considered as the solution of a great number of challenges for electricity systems, but also the path to move to a low carbon economy. Photovoltaic self-consumption may play a key role in speeding up such a transition especially in the context of zero energy buildings. The control and management of a smart grid is made by updating energetic and economic parameters such as the load consumption and the photovoltaic generation through smart connected devices, which provide real time operation and energy measurements. This work analyses the error when matching the load consumption and photovoltaic generation profiles. Different recording intervals and reporting periods in a photovoltaic self-consumption system are considered. The PV system rating ranges from 0.01 to 10kWp. The upper value has been chosen as it may constitute an upper limit for conventional households.
