Abstract

In this paper, we have proposed a smart lightemitting-diode (LED) which utilizes a power allocation algorithm for uniform illumination and also saves energy in an indoor visible light communication (VLC) system. The smart LED is aware of the user’s location that need to be served in the room. Depending upon the user’s location in the room, the LED tunes its half angle and allocates power to them according to an algorithm. The performance of the system has been analyzed in terms of power requirement and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The proposed algorithm shows that the power required for a targeted SNR is reduced in an indoor VLC system and the room is filled with uniform illumination.
