Abstract
With the developing of technology, such as application of new energy, radiofrequency sensing, communication and information, intelligent control, we establish a new industrial era and the intelligent cities has come towards us. Since the intelligent city developing so fast, it is need to supply much more cleanable and efficiency energy to meet the environment protecting and unstopping load of power gird increasing. So, smart grid came to our sight. It will support the future intelligent city development. In this paper, we first present the intelligent grid as the foundation of future intelligent cities. Then, we put forward the new challenges that modern cities that rely on electricity may face and discuss the necessity of developing intelligent grid. Following that, we state rewards for developing intelligent grid such as solving the energy crisis, changing the running mode of power grid, advancing the intelligent life, and promoting clients' involvement in the power market adjusting process. To illustrate those points, provide relevant examples were included in the discussion. In the end, we sum up the whole paper.
