Abstract

Experience with wind systems in many regions of Africa has largely been in the water-pumping sector. Whereas water pumps can be found in the remotest parts of Africa, very few wind electric systems exist. Bernard Osawa, Energy for Sustainable Development Africa (ESDA) Ltd and David Otieno, Solarnet describe the current potential and uptake of this technology in Eastern Africa.
