Abstract

Small-signal characteristics and output voltage transients of a voltage-mode controlled two-module DC-to-DC converter feeding a common resistive load are investigated. The parallel-input/series-output converter system works in the continuous current conduction mode (CCM), and uses magnetic coupling between the separate output filler inductors to reduce converter size and weight. A damping circuit can be designed to ensure that the natural frequencies of the output filter are well damped and adequate stability margins are achieved. The converter model is implemented using ‘MATLAB‘ and results are varified against ‘PSPICE’ simulations.
