Abstract

Many graduate students are poorly informed about how to locate and compete for academic fellowships and small research grants. Consequently, many students fail to secure the funding that would enable them to pursue expensive research and fulltime academic study. 7his article presents recommendations for securing such funds. 7he recommendations are based in part on the combined experiences of the authors as doctoral students in search of academic fellowships and small research grants. An annotated bibliography of sources of grants andfellowships is included.
