Abstract

A small-size printed inverted-L monopole wideband antenna for mobile application is presented. The antenna is simply structured with an L-strip, which occupies a small area of 10 × 14 mm2 on the top portion of the substrate. A simple matching circuit using lumped elements is used to introduce two resonance frequencies and to further enhance the bandwidth. The proposed antenna achieves a 10 dB impedance bandwidth from 2.23 GHz to more than 4 GHz, which can cover the WLAN2400 and WiMAX2300/2500/3500 operation bands, and omnidirectional radiation patterns were obtained. It is suitable for application to a mobile phone with its relatively low profile.
