Abstract

Microturbines present themselves as a reliable and versatile solution for the generation of electric power on units consuming a few dozens of kilowatts. Confirming the catalog information, preventive maintenance intervals are reduced and simple intervention is needed. Interventions that need to access the hot parts of the microturbine require specialized technical assistance. The new projects of measuring stations involve the installation of a signal amplifier sent by the optical fiber (backbone station). The growing demand of electric power originated in this type of loads, associated to the good performance demonstrated by the microturbines, recommend its use in new projects in the gas pipeline area. It is concluded that the small power generation (15-60 kW range) by microturbines in remote isolated oil and gas facilities is reliable and cost effective when compared with currently available technologies (photovoltaic panels, TEGs, MTSGs).
