Abstract
Small countries with an open economy that aspire to a society of prosperity are always also countries of advanced economy that lead a rational and far-sighted economic policy. The Republic of Croatia has a tradition and a model of a successful country management from the Republic of Dubrovnik (Ragusa), and on those grounds it should nowadays build a social state with a competitive and advanced economy. Economic diplomacy is an important part of such a complex system and represents a bridge from an advanced society with the global market.
