Abstract

A small broadband antenna composed of a dual-meander folded loop and a disk-loaded monopole is designed and measured. Measurement results confirm a fractional bandwidth of 10.8% with the voltage standing-wave ratio (VSWR) less than 2. The measured radiation efficiency exceeds 65% over the whole band. This antenna has an omnidirectional radiation pattern of vertical polarization in the horizontal plane. The ground plane size is also optimized to achieve the above radiation characteristics.
