Abstract

Obliquely evaporated amorphous GeSe3 films have a marked columnar microstructure. The photo-induced contraction of a-GeSe3 films has been studied with small-angle neutron scattering and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that whilst the density change may be accounted for by the collapse of voids within the columns, the gross columnar microstructure persists after illumination.
