Abstract

A slow extraction system was tested at the injection energy (10 MeV/u) for alpha particles in order to study the feasibility of the system. The system consists of an electrostatic septum, a magnetic septum, a sextupole magnet, and three bump coils attached to the ordinary lattice dipole magnets. Their characteristics are briefly described together with the results of the beam test. A beam spill time of 0.7 s has been achieved for 3*10/sup 5/ extracted particles, although the effects of the current ripple in the magnet power supplies were observed. >
