Abstract

Present paper details the realization of a series fed 2×12 resonant slotted array antenna with compact waveguide feed network at 38 GHz. Antenna parameters such as slot length, inter slot spacing and its offset have been calculated for broadside radiation pattern. The antenna has been simulated on finite element method based ANSYS's High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) EM software using proper boundary conditions. Measured gain and VSWR of antenna are 19dBi and 1.8∶1 respectively. Developed antenna has side lobe level better than 15 dB in the array plane at 38GHz. The measured results of antenna are in excellent compliance with the simulated values. The designed antenna is a part of a planer slotted array antenna (65 × 12) developed for IFF application.
