Abstract
This paper proposes four slot/pole combinations of dual winding and dual PM flux modulated machine (DWDPM). The main structure of DWDPM is that armature windings and permanent magnets are positioned on both the stator and rotor sides. When adopting unique slot/pole combination, the stator windings and the rotor windings can interact, respectively, with the stator PMs and the rotor PMs to output average torque. The electromagnetic performance of the proposed models is analyzed and compared according to finite element analysis (FEA). The result shows that the DWDPM having close slot and pole combinations can output more torque and have lower torque ripple.
