Abstract

The slope stability of the joint roadbed, which based on the example of freeway continuation from Hefei to Nanjing, was analyzed by strength reduction finite element method (FEM) using ABAQUS software. Infinite elements were used on the boundary to avoid the influence of FEM dimension. The transform of mechanical parameters was expounded from the M-C model to the D-P model with equal area in plane strain questions. Unitary safety factor controlled by the maximal plastic strain which a pavement structure can withstand was given. Analysis means about the joint roadbed stability were mostly validating a hypothetic design time and again at present. This paper suggested drawing critical parameter curves of the slope stability in different safety factors. It would be fast to choose a primary project by above curves using the cohesion and internal friction angle data in direct shear tests or triaxial undrain shear tests. Designs according to need with filling material and joint condition could be implemented.
