Abstract

As the world around us has become a global village due to globalisation process, radical changes and great transformations has occurred in the fields of economics, communication technologies and cultural interactions. Closely associated with these great transformations many new terminologies, concepts and theories have emerged and/or the old ones have been given a new breath in response to these new challenges. As a result, many societies have come to terms with the necessities of the re-evaluation of their values including the religious ones. In fact, throughout history religion has been always at the centre of discussion in relation to the all great changes and transformations known to us, let it be in radical or in conservative terms and Islam has been no exception. This paper is aimed to examine the role of Islam in the globalisation process with respect to the promises that it may offer to man kind in response to challenges brought about by the very process of Globalisation
