Abstract

The supersonic chemical oxygen iodine laser (SCOIL) is full of promise as an industrial laser due to its high power and efficiency. The most important part of the SCOIL is a singlet oxygen generator (SOG) which produces the energy source of the laser system. Although there are several types in SOG, a jet type SOG (JSOG) is expected to be the most suitable for the SCOIL. We conducted tests of a slit nozzle JSOG that is a new type of JSOG and compared it with the generally used round nozzle JSOG.
