Abstract

In this paper, a sliding mode control of the power factor corrected(PFC) converter for Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) is presented. In order to design a voltage controller of the PFC converter for PHEVs, a small signal model can be used because of its slow nature of the voltage controller compared to the current controller in the system. In terms of the current controller for the PFC converter in PHEVs, a sliding mode controller is derived and designed. This sliding mode controller for the PFC converter is verified and validated throughout the PSIM computer simulation and the small scaled DSP test-bed.
