Abstract

This paper presents a three-phase shunt active power filter controlled by using the theory related to the variable structure systems (VSS): sliding mode control (SMC), using a digital signal processor (DSP). A good dynamic response, robustness, and stability are obtained with this control strategy. The active filter is composed of a six-switch voltage fed three-phase inverter with neutral connection DC bus capacitor. The active filter is controlled by sensing the filter current and capacitor voltage using sliding mode control. Analysis and modeling at a shunt active power filter are presented as well as simulation and experimental results which verify the satisfactory results of the proposed approach.
