Abstract

The unusual internal structure of bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) has been of interest to the tribology community in recent years. Most research using these materials has been conducted unlubricated condition, and research that assesses their properties especially under lubricated conditions has been scarce. In the present work, the tribological behaviors of Fe-based BMG against Si_3N_4 ceramic disk was studied in seawater-sliding conditions using a pin-on-flat friction machine. The friction coefficient increased with increasing applied load. The worn surface mainly characterized by abrasive wear.
