Abstract
Agapkina T. A. Trees in the Slavic folk tradition. Essays. - M.: Indrik, 2019. - 656 p. - (Traditional spiritual culture of the Slavs. Modern research). The review sheds light on the main ideas of the monographic ethnolinguistic study of the trees in the Slavic traditional culture. It is based on the vast lexical, idiomatic, folklore and ethnographic data, and reconstructs the portraits of various trees and bushes, showing their real and mythic qualities, relevant for the further symbolization. The trees are represented in the wide cultural traditional context, demonstrating connection with other cultural facts and meanwhile the general correlation of the evidences. Comparison is the key method of presentation of the trees and their role(s) in various Slavic cultures.
