Abstract

We consider the general effective chiral action for two-flavor (u, d) QCD up to quartic order in the chiral field and apply it to a Skyrme model of the nucleon and delta resonance. The constraints imposed by the low-energy mesonic observables are taken into account in a treatment incorporating the contributions of one-meson loops. The chiral soliton is described in the standard tree approximation which depends on the subtraction scale. Numerical results are obtained for static observables of the N-Δ system and the implications on the chiral action and the scale dependence are analysed.
