Abstract

Some theoretical calculations have been performed to determine the effect of bubbling by gas injection through a porous wall on the skin friction and heat transfer characteristics in the boundary layer of a liquid flowing over it. The results show a significant increase in both the skin friction and the heat transfer coefficient. Some calculations for a case in which the injected gas makes a continuous film over the surface are also given. In this case, the skin friction and heat transfer drastically decrease.
