Abstract
The indications for the various methods of skin coverage in hand injuries are outlined. While the function of many badly injured hands can be saved by using distant pedicle flaps in repair, sensory loss is a notable drawback. Sometimes the answer to this deficiency can be found in transfer of a neurovascular island of skin and subcutaneous tissue.
