Abstract

Skeptical theism is a skeptical response to the evidential argument from evil. It is the claim that we are not justified in believing that there are (or probably are) gratuitous evils in the world, due to human cognitive limitations. This entry explains the central claims of skeptical theism, outlines the principal motivations for the view, and discusses moral and epistemic objections to skeptical theism.
