Abstract

Introduction: Cellular cardiomyoplasty using skeletal myoblasts or angiopoietic progenitor cells offers a promising approach for the treatment of ischemic heart failure. Although several studies have shown encouraging results in settings of acute and semi-chronic myocardial infarction, the efficacy of cell therapy on the chronic ischemic heart remains undetermined.
