Abstract

Silico-Alumino-Phosphate(SAPO-11) is prepared by using the available Chinese chemical reagents. The prepared catalyst is characterized by both XRD and TPD. The synthesized catalyst is then used to study the chemical kinetics of skeletal isomerization reaction of linear butenes to iso-butene. A practical approach is used here, since we conducted the experiments on an actual butenes fractions produced in a commercial refinery. Results show that the yield of iso-butene increases with temperature increase to reach the equilibrium ratio. The transformation of linear butenes into iso-butene can be represented by a first order reversible reaction model. Reaction rate constants for both the forward and backward reactions as well as activation energies were calculated.
