Abstract
The building of Britain's first PWR power station began in April 1987 at Sizewell. The project had been subject to the closest public scrutiny on its design, safety and economical aspects. The 340-day Public Inquiry was the longest ever held in this country. This article reports on a conference held in September 1989 which discussed progress to date.
