Abstract

The appropriate size of minicuttings in the clonal propagation of plants by minicutting varies according to the species and must be tested experimentally. In this context, the objective was to evaluate three sizes of minicuttings for the production of clonal seedlings by the minicutting process of the species Sarcomphalus joazeiro (Mart.) Hauenshild. Minicuttings with sizes of 5 cm, 8 cm and 11 cm in length were evaluated for survival, rooting and seedling quality formed by the minicutting technique. According to the results obtained and also taking into account that the smaller the propagule used for clonal propagation, the greater the number of minicuttings are obtained, it is recommended to use minicuttings with a length of 8 cm.
