Abstract
The `size effect' of ultrafine platinum particles supported on a carbon material for the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol has been examined by a model catalyst method. Chronoamperometry revealed that the specific activity of the reaction per real surface area of the platinum particles decreases with a decrease in the platinum particle size.
