Abstract
Abstract Glass-forming ability was studied by room temperature 190 keV xenon ion mixing for the AuTa system, for which the atomic size difference is nearly zero. Several amorphous alloys were obtained and their compositions were located in a narrow range around Au23Ta77. The amorphization mechanism under ion irradiation process, as well as the size effect on the glass-forming range, is also discussed.
