Abstract

The repetitive segments of the middle-repetitive portion of the DNA of Drosophila melanogaster have been found to be 150 base pairs or somewhat less in length. They are distributed throughout the genome. The Drosophila genome contains, on the average, one short, middle-repetitive sequence per approximately 750 base pairs of single copy DNA.
