Abstract

The fully unsaturated six-membered rings with one arsenic, antimony, or bismuth atom include arsenin, stibinin, and bismin. Arsenins and to a smaller extent stibinins and bismins have been computationally studied using density functional theory and ab initio and semi-empirical molecular orbital methods. No new experimental work has appeared on stibinins and bismins. X-Ray structures have been determined for substituted arsenins and transition metal complexes of arsenins. Arsinolines, the arsenic analogs of naphthalene, behave as reactive dienes in the Diels–Alder reaction. New syntheses have been developed for arsinolines and substituted arsenins.
