Abstract

In order to reduce the ill-conditioned and non-linearity inverse problem of electrical capacitance tomography (ECT), this paper presented one kind of exciting-measuring mode for ECT sensor consisting of 24 segments, which are divided in 6 sets. Every set is regarded as one electrode, greatly widen electrode structuring 6-electrode sensor. The values and the dynamic range of capacitance data, the equipotential lines distribution, the sensitivity distribution and the reconstructed images of different flow regimes were compared with conventional 12-electrode sensor. Two kinds of sensors were simulated by using COMSOL and Matlab. The simulation showed for the presented exciting-measuring mode, the number of independent data close to that of 12-electrode sensor, which will not cause the decrease of real-time reconstructed speed. Meanwhile, the capacitance valves are larger and its dynamic range is smaller, which can reduce the difficulty of measurement circuit. Moreover, the 6-electrode sensor can obtain the more uniform sensitivity distribution and the better reconstruction image of the object in the central location.
