Abstract

This paper summarizes existing leadership concepts and introduces a new situational mindset dimension for dynamic systems analysis. This premise launched a focus on defining and developing outstanding leaders first in terms of styles and later in terms of mastering skills. The practice of using six situational mindsets secures effective data collection, evaluation, and prioritization. It ensures holistic thinking, because it targets objective reality, engages others in analysis, and generates new alternatives. Situational mindsets improve change readiness, separate critical signals from surrounding noise, discover relevant data, expose links, and grow the ability to cope with change successfully. COVID-19 confirms the need to transform our approach to leadership and systems thinking. Thriving in our expected new normal requires situational awareness and mastery.
