Abstract

The complex situations amidst the global pandemic have affected teaching, learning, and educational leadership in schools. Situational leadership focuses on leadership approaches to situations in objectifying the needs of subordinates in institutions. Conversely, leaders in educational institutions have an important role in ensuring that both teaching and learning proceed efficiently. This chapter focuses on situational leadership in an online learning environment in the era of global pandemic. Education leaders encountered challenging situations during the global pandemic that demand a situational approach to educational leadership. This chapter outlines the strengths of situational leadership approaches in an online learning environment with an outlook on directive and supportive leadership approaches. More importantly, an aspect of this chapter hinges on situational leadership approaches to achieve task completion in an online learning environment. Therefore, it was concluded that situational leadership approaches enhanced educational leadership in an online learning environment during the global pandemic complexities.
