Abstract

Drawn on the experience of the training model of American medical education, we have started the Eight-Year Program of Clinical Medicine in China since 2004. It's been 10 years passed, a total of 14 colleges had the qualification for the Eight-Year Program of Clinical Medicine in China, each school had its unique education concepts and methods for it. This article used West China School of Medicine in Sichuan University as an example, to express the current situation of the Eight-Year Program of Clinical Medicine in China. To have a better training in research skills and clinical skills of students, it's essential to have a reasonable time schedule for Eight-Year Program of Clinical Medicine's teaching plan. And choosing a suitable sub specialty and tutor may have a life time on each student. Lacking of clinical skills when Eight-Year Program of Clinical Medicine student graduated may bother most of them, an advisable postgraduate training program is needed to solve this situation. Therefore, we made several suggestions on the perspectives above due to improve the quality of Eight-Year Program of Clinical Medicine in China.
