Abstract

In this research, it was trying to select the most appropriate sites to set up a Harmonic Pressure Wave Energy Converter (HPWEC) system among 10 points in the south coast of the Caspian Sea using cluster analysis. So, a conceptual model of the studied system was considered firstly. After that all required relations were extracted and all possible states were determined and analyzed with the Top-Down cluster analyzing method. Some parameters including the geographical and the hydrodynamic attributes such as latitude, longitude, distance to the coastline, the wave period, the depth of the seabed, the wave height and the mean potential power were considered. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the southwest coast of the Caspian Sea was more appropriate for utilization of HPWEC systems, but the east coast were not very effective. Obtained results showed Noshahr, Tonekabon and Ramsar are the best locations for the assumed HPWEC system.
