Abstract

The wine system in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico, has acquired great national relevance due to its intersection with wine tourism to seek the development of the network. The support agents involved are educational institutions and private sector organizations, among which PROVINO, the Mexican Wine Council and the National Autonomous University of Mexico stand out. The support agents carry out functions such as the establishment of collaboration networks, application of business development policies, promotion of Mexican wine consumption and activities of international recognition. Only 33% of wine producers receive support from the government, and there is an absence of public policies in favor of the chain. The two significant interactions in the system are between grapevine and wine producers within each of the two main groups, but not between each other; and between wine producers and research institutions. The results obtained can be used by potential support agents, such as government institutions for the design of public policies that serve the system and enhance its growth and visibility to the rest of the world.
