Abstract
Sir Nigel Crisp will be remembered by black and minority ethnic (BME) staff for his sustained support and focused approach in championing the cause of equal opportunities in the NHS. He was our champion and we are saddened by his departure, but we are empowered by a legacy that will ensure the contribution of BME staff will never again be downplayed, undervalued or underestimated.
