Abstract

Elderly orthopedic patients given nutritionally complete liquid formula supplements did not suffer the losses in triceps skinfold thickness or mid-upper arm muscle circumference that were found in controls. However, the supplements did not affect clinical outcome, biochemical parameters, or muscle function.
